(a) An allergic reaction is an abnormal reaction of the immune system towards a foreign substance which is known as an allergen.


(b) To quickly reduce the symptoms of allergy often antihistamine drugs like Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and diphenhydramine (Benadryl) are used. Also, decongestant drugs like oxymetazoline (Afrin) are used.


(c) More and more children in metro cities of India suffer from allergies and asthma due to the presence of a high amount of allergens as metro cities are more polluted. Allergens like smoke particles from vehicles cause allergies and asthma. Moreover, since children have a weaker immune system, so they are more prone to allergy and asthma.
