Ill-treatment of Animals

By Swati

The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was established in our locality to protect and prevent animals from exploitation, ill-treatment, and slaughter. But the attitude of the public remains unchanged. They continue to exploit and subject innocent animals to torture and death to fulfill their selfish needs. According to recent data, 50% people believe that animals are exploited for selfish ends, so they continue to kill them mercilessly for meat, skin, tusks, fur, etc. to earn money for selling the parts. Laws against hunting, poaching, and encroaching into national reserves are disregarded and broken repeatedly. 35% people have indifferent attitudes towards animals. They ignore the suffering and ill-treatment of animals and do not even stop others from doing it. They do nothing to prevent this cruelty because they do not acknowledge animals as equal creations of God. 15% of them believe that animals are slaves to human beings because they do not possess higher intelligence and are incapable of speech and communication. Their existence is therefore insignificant and there is no harm in exploiting them for selfish needs and entertainment. Keeping the above points in mind, we should join hands to stop this merciless slaughter and exploitation of living beings who have every right to live peacefully as we do. An effective way to prevent torture to animals to enforce stricter laws and punishment to offenders and create mass awareness to change people's attitudes.
