Construct a triangle with sides 5 cm, 6 cm and 7 cm and then another triangle whose sides are of the corresponding sides of the first triangle.


Steps of Construction:


1. Draw a line segment QR = 7 cm.



2. With Q as centre and radius 5 cm, draw an arc.



3. With R as centre and radius 6 cm, draw an arc cutting the previous arc at P.



4. Join PQ and PR. Thus, ΔPQR is the required triangle.



5. Below QR, draw an acute angle RQX.



6. Along QX, mark 7 points R1, R2 … R7 points such that QR1 = R1R2 … = R6R7



7. Join R5R and draw a line through R7 parallel to R5R, to intersect QR extended at R’.



8. Draw a line through R’ parallel to the line PR to intersect QP extended at P’.



Thus, Δ P’QR’ is the required triangle.
