Q6 of 805 Page 13

Construct a Δ ABC in which AB = 6 cm, A = 30° and B = 60°. Construct another ΔAB' C' similar to ΔABC with base AB' = 8 cm.

We have

Steps of Construction:

1. Draw a line segment AB = 6 cm.

2. Make an acute angle YAB = 30°.

3. From B, take an angle of 60° to intersect AY at C.

4. Below AB, make an acute angle BAX.

5. Along AX, mark 4 points B1, B2, B3, B4 such that AB1 = B1B2 = B2B3 = B3B4.

6. Join BB3.

7. Extend AB and draw a line parallel to BB3 from B4 to intersect extended AB at B’. Join B4B’.

8. Draw a line parallel to BC from B’ to intersect AC at C’.

Δ AB’C’ is the required triangle.
